Simply..the best Christmas shopping....

I'm considering doing our Christmas shopping this way every year!

We went to Carluccio's late afternoon and I took a good look round their beautiful shop with a list in my hand. Then we had a leisurely and delicious meal while waiting for the special shopping event to start at 6.30.
Picture

Generous trays of beautiful freshly made food were carried out from the kitchens, mulled wine was served, hot chocolate to die for, and samples of tiny sponges in limoncello, panettone, and other delights. The staff were charming  (Glasgow branch -  they always are) putting our bags aside and sitting me down at the bar with more mulled wine while Barry fetched the car....

It was busy but not packed. There is a fabulous choice of beautifully presented good food and wine, from  50p for chocolate ladybirds and £2.50 for chocolate coins to hampers for £75. Things which you might not buy for yourself, and consumable, make acceptable presents for everyone I hope. (Do you think Carluccio's might sponsor me to write this? Only kidding!).

There is no need for a hard sell approach with this food - it sells itself.

Oh and there was 10% off..

So, next year, and perhaps every year, I think this will be the way we shop for Christmas. We might ask the family to join us for the meal as part of the Christmas treat....

Consider it done.

Are you considering doing anything differently this Christmas?

I shall be going down to London to see what Christmas is all about in the big city - exciting times for a country bumpkin! Your one-stop shopping adventure sounds just the job for stress-free gift buying.

I do love a bit of city buzz now and then - enjoy London! (My one-stop shop was pure pleasure.)

Yes, no stress!! The grandchildren are inheriting huge tubs of Playmobil their mom and aunties had, sorted. DD1 and her DH are getting a year's zoo pass for the family, sorted. DD2 and her DH are getting a contribution to a trip next summer, sorted. DD3 and her BF are getting new PJs and a cosy blanket, sorted. Finished and done :) Now I'm enjoying Advent with my DH and Sundays with family and friends… highly recommended. No shopping at all and all the best bits of the season (including foods lol!).

yes, no gifts and we are hiking on Christmas day, just like we did on thanksgiving day. This will be a new tradition for us.

we are giving our grandchildren and children money for camp, theater, art classes etc....experiences, instead of stuff. it seems that all my friends feel as overwhelmed by stuff as i do, so i will use your wonderful idea and do yummies! will shop locally...:-)

So many people are opting for experiences rather than things Julia - making memories that will last!

I nipped over to London from Canada this past weekend for 3 days to visit with friends and do a little bit of Christmas shopping. Managed to find some wonderful stocking stuffers at the Borough Market. It was much less busy there than it is usually and so much better than the crazy crowds of Oxford Street.

I think this may become a tradition!
