Works for me.
Have you set the scene? Or do you enjoy the cooking more?
Two recipes which I made the day before made a lovely lunch for friends. This aubergine and parmesan bake and Nigella's passion fruit ice cream cake....Yum Then the fasting next day with apple carrot and spinach juice for two meals (and the leftovers for the third!) Works for me. Setting the scene is the most fun bit for me (though I am beginning to quite like cooking..) I borrowed the tablecloth and brought out all the old favourites.. and lots of candles!
Have you set the scene? Or do you enjoy the cooking more?

For me, i love it all! And i am blessed to have many heirloom linens and dishes..i love to get them out and think about our grandparents having used them too. But more to the present!...the recipes you made sound absolutely like keepers..i’m on that dessert this week for sure! one thing i wish: that all the years i have been married (40), that i had kept a journal of who i entertained and what i served, with the recipes enclosed...and you, freda, might have also wanted to include a photo of the setting as well...:-)

It sounds like you enjoy the season to the full Julia - memories and traditions and people all celebrated. I hope this is your best yet!

Definitely setting the scene. Your lunch menu sounds lovely but it is your table that captures my imagination. I have napkin envy! Hope the festive season is full of friends and family gathered in beautiful surroundings for you, Freda.

I adore setting the scene and your tablescene is just up my street!! I have decluttered a lot but what I have I love to vary and everything has a story, especially now I have some of Granny's things, too!

The dessert is quick and easy Swissrose especially as I made a sauce with fresh raspberries and a little vanilla sugar. Have a lovely . Perhaps cooked from your treasure trove of Family Circle magazines..

Not required to set the scene or even do much cooking this year. As my adult children have children, they are anxious to do things in their own homes and establish their own family traditions. Not hosting anyone this year, but will show up for Christmas morning with most of the tribe at the house with the newest baby (born in Aug). Will make a breakfast casserole to share for that event and some jam tarts (my children remember my British mother making them for Christmas). Struggle to enjoy cooking after decades of long hours working/commuting which pretty much ensured I disliked making dinner each night, but will be getting back to it soon.

I am not hosting Christmas Day either this year - looking forward to my family's good cooking. I hope you might soon enjoy cooking again when you have more time for it Mary. Happy Christmas!

It all looks so beautiful Freda. I love the light and shadow in your last pic. Also that even your aubergine bake matches the colour scheme!

I have often in the past done too much (this year maybe not enough..) Finding balance is the answer to pretty much everything I guess! Loving your little Christmas tree. Have a lovely time Viv. x
