Simply..the green green grass of home....

I am amazed at how green the grass has stayed in the heatwave.

I watered it every few days when the weather first turned hot (before Open Days) but not since. I can only suppose that all the early season lawn care - scarifying, feeding and  weeding - got it into really good condition and that has seen it through, and in the last couple of weeks we have had the odd rainy day. Just enough to keep it fresh.

Short blog break coming up (to keep me fresh too).

Your grass is looking good and the feeding must have helped. Mine stayed mostly green but I suspect that is the proportion of clover and buttercups to grass.
Love how the big golden conifer at the end of your garden sets off the mixed planting in the foreground.
Enjoy your break.

The golden shrub is clipped lonicera nitida (the most ungainly plant in the world). my ambition is to make a perfect ball - a way to go!

I have two areas of lawn. The front one has dried out a fair bit, but looking out from the back of the house you wouldn't really know there was an issue. Husband says it's because we have such a lot of moss in the grass! Our hedges are rampant, with the best crop of blackberries we've seen here, but I'm worried about our camelia - they apparently like lots of rain in the summer in order to flower well the following spring. We had a lovely show this year, and I'm steeling myself for disappointment next!

There's no 'one size fits all' in gardening is there!

the heat has turned our grass brown. we could look at the up side of this - we don't have to cut it. rest & relax, but hurry back.

I'm cutting only once in a few weeks which is a nice break from that chore.

There are so many different greens in your garden. It’s like a dappled impressionist painting, I love it x

For some reason the one here in Yorkshire has stayed pretty green - I have no idea why it is unwatered all this time - just one brown patch on a corner by the paving.
Have a nice break.

York was pretty brown when I was down though Newby Hall gardens were superb!

And when you come back..i want to know how to scarify the grass! Does this involve making faces?

Tee hee! I have an electric scairfyer (but it's still quite hard work).

Tom Jones song “Green green grass of home” is my ear worm now after reading your post’s title

I went to youTube, listened to Tom Jones sing it, ear worm gone. I find listening to a whole song gets the parts I remember out of my head.

It looks a lot fresher than here! But as Cathy says, the bonus is that I haven't had to cut it for weeks. Love all the shapes in your garden.

It's my three dimensional composition really, always changing of course, and therefore challenging.
