Simply..the morning bright....

..with rosy light..

I choose to get up earlier so that I can start my day with ginger tea and some writing.

I love looking out on the forest and opening the window to feel the morning air and hear the birds.

How do you start your day?

Can you create a little morning corner? If you don't (yet) have the view you want you might put a picture of one beside you as you enjoy a quiet cuppa and read or write for ten minutes before the family stirs or the alarm goes off and the demands of the day begin.

Happy Easter Sunday!

On work days I start my day on automatic - I have exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes to shower, dry hair and make presentable, get dressed, eat breakfast collect things and go. I go at a pace that is neither a rush but not exactly leisurely either.
At the weekends I am usually up and pottering in my dressing gown for a while, gathering my thoughts - often I will do some ironing - it is my thinking space - I actually like ironing - the rhythm helps me think and plan - but a morning corner would be equally good.

It sounds like you have found a pace that suits you in the mornings. I like ironing too - a sense of quietly putting things in order - I love having my things ready to go. (Viv I get 'Server not found when I try to go to your blog...?)

I did when I clicked on my name above - I have entered my full website address - see if that helps?

On my days off, I still get up fairly early - that internal clock goes off even if the actual one doesn't. That's my time to write letters, while the house is still quiet.

How nice to connect by letter in your quiet time - lovely to give and to receive.

I like to see your birds taking a friendly interest in what you are writing.
I often cook early in the morning. Or at least make some advance preparations for later meals especially if there will be family here. This morning it was a meringue. Sometimes it is bread.
I have never been able to go downstairs without getting washed and dressed first so I seldom need a dressing gown.
I drink my one cup of coffee standing up!
Happy Easter.

How interesting to cook first thing! It would never cross my mind, but I can see that starting the day with something creative like that might be lovely. I think it would make me feel I had stolen a march on the day. What a nice idea Lucille.

On commute mornings, having organized my things the night before, I can be up, dressed (shower night before) and out the door within 25 minutes, including time to make a large tea in my stainless steel container. 50 mile drive into DC listening to a book on CD (the only thing that makes the drive bearable). I am a very early riser no matter what day of the week. On weekends, I usually make tea, then go in my home office and read, pay bills, putter. No view from my desk. I should move some of my art around. Most of it is on the wall behind me.

Happy Easter Sunday, Freda.

My early morning routine is reading a poem and reflecting on it for a while while looking outside. A heron has returned to fish the water and it is such a happy sight after a long period of absence. I conclude my early morning space with writing a page in my diary.

And I too like ironing..

That sounds a sane start to a day. I hope the heron keeps visiting, A lot of people actually like ironing.

Happy Easter. I've enjoyed reading about everyone's morning routine. Lots of food for thought here. It has illuminated the fact that mine does not serve me as well as it could do.

I hope you can tweak it a bit until it does serve you well Lotta. Someone said 'If you win the morning, you win the day,'

Good morning all! I've enjoyed reading about everyone's morning rituals (or not!). I LOVE to be up before dawn. 5am is my time. I feel very cheated if i sleep in; like i have missed the very best part of the day. It's my time. Yoga meditation, catch up on email, and your blog, Freda...lately, i've been so absorbed in my art that i find myself at my bench, with new ideas, even before making coffee...i lilke to think the art is my version of julia cameron's morning pages.
