Simply..the surprising thing....

..about being ill in bed for twelve days was that the sky didn't fall in and the world went on as usual without any input from me! Imagine!

Some mystery bug (not Covid) laid me low, strong painkillers and antibiotics are slowly working.

The weather has been dreary and still, with low cloud all day long.

Apart from brushing my teeth and doing some laundry (was sick on the duvet) I haave done nothing. For almost two weeks.

As I contemplate the beauty of this pear before I drizzle it with lemon oil and scatter it with crushed walnuts, I realise it is the first time I have been interested in food for a fortnight.

I should have looked inside that book Never Lose Your Sparkle instead of just photographing it's jaunty cover!

I do hope this finds you all well and thriving.

So sorry to hear you have been unwell Freda, but relieved to know you are on the mend. And there was me imagining you were off on a lovely trip somewhere! I can't help wondering what effect all the social distancing may have had on our immune systems which are usually exposed to so much more ... Take good care. X

They do say we may be more about honourable to other pathogens floating around... Not a nice thought.

How awful! But it is good to hear you are feeling better. Exhausted, I imagine. Grace probably has the right of it--our immune systems are not use to much exposure. Please take care of yourself and build up your strength. So much to look forward to. x

Sorry to hear you've been poorly . Hope you get your sparkle back in time for your exhibition. Guess your resistance might have been lowered after all the effort of painting again. Take care of yourself.

That was a nasty bout. I’m sorry it was accompanied by pain. I hope your strength is building and that you are eating again. Like Grace I thought you were away from home.

What a shame Freda! Glad you are on the mend. A frustrating week as my car needs major repairs to get through its MOT - but at least have been able to get out on foot by the river and into Museum gardens. My brain seems out of action too! Not sure what I can do about that! Here’s to the recovery of your sparkle.

Oh, Freda, that sounds most unpleasant, I am so sorry you have been unwell. I wonder if you might like this clip about an art gallery in Colchester Essex, called Firstsite and the Wonderful contribution they are making for good in their local community. It cheered me no end when I listened to their wonderful director on a clip about the prize they have just won. The wonderful power of art! https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/20QkzGJ7KjP5z02s5tgr8w0/firstsite-in-colchester-wins-the-art-fund-museum-of-the-year-2021-award I hope that you enjoy it and soon feel much much better.

Oh no! I was thinking you were taking a break to work on your exhibition. It's good you got ahead on your painting. I do hope that you continue to mend and build up your strength with healthy eating. Sending hugs
