To Be Read, after I've finished Derren Brown's Happy: Why More Or Less Everything Is Absolutely Fine..
I do often read several books at once and dip into others constantly.
Do you do this?

I am struggling to read at all at the moment, but hope to do so over the summer. I have read the book on Frida Kahlo. She had such a fascinating life, filled with passion and pain and, sadly, too short.

i hope you soon have time to read Grace. The Frida Kalho is a story of resilience if ever there was one...

I love seeing what other people are reading! And too often, there are books I've never heard of...like the one's in your stack. Most often I'm a read-it-until-I-finish reader, but lately I've had as many as 3 books going at once. That's normally disconcerting to me, but for now, it works.

I like to have variety in the books I have on the go, so there's usually a novel, a biography, a cookbook or two, an art theory. I feel I should be more disciplined and stick to one book at a time, but never do!

Reading at the table was not allowed in our family too (now it's no phones at the table). But it does only apply in company...

Several books at the same time is only possible for me when the genres differ. Just now it means a volume of poetry (Dutch poet Ida Gerhardt), a memoir (Terry Tempest Williams When Women Were Birds), a book to study (about journals: Dutch about the Diaries of Etty Hillesum) and a book of essays (Dutch about the sacred in the ordinary daily life). As I need to spread reading over various short periods during the day it is quite possible a book has to wait for another day. I only read books cover to cover these days when it holds my attention.

When Women Were Birds is a most intriguing title! I often get reading ideas from comments here - thank you.

i often have 1-3 books on the go at one time..and am learning to give up all "shoulds" and "should nots" when it comes to reading...recently gave up on alice in wonderland...the "shoulds" were hitting me and then i remembered! i'm 65 now..i get to do what i want, including not finishing a book if i am not enjoying myself...:-) and that now includes not reading my book club selection if i am not enjoying it also!..life is short and my TBR pile fills one entire bookcase..

The above is my entire TBR pile!! I usually read each book as it comes in the door but love having a little stack waiting.
