Simply..the turn of the year....

I am writing this on the 20th, but tomorrow is the shortest day and I like to light a candle for the solstice and this little one which turns the owls seems particularly appropriate.

I will be thinking of Lynn who is planning to be at Avebury.

Will you make a little celebration of it?

I also have one of these candle holders, but with stars instead of owls. It was a gift from one of my pupils many moons ago. I shall light it tonight and think of her and you.

Lovely little owls around the candle and made me smile and isn't it amazing to think of us lighting a candle for the solstice in 2021 and the link back thousands of years to people celebrating light and the solstice then.

So we made it to Avebury for the Solstice just in time! It was wonderful just standing amongst the stones watching the light receed surrounded by others - some with drums, some with fire, some in costume. Lots of families with children too. A beautiful clear sky with an amazing sunset. Very magical!
