Simply..tough as old boots....

..but a lot prettier. It's hard to believe that the lovely sea thrift here was completely under salt water for a week during the storms in January.

One of the ways of simply living for me is to be in touch daily with the natural world  and I always look out for the flowering of thrift, armeria maritima, on these particular rocks. I've done a number of paintings of it.

Maybe it's time to do another, to keep, since the others all sold long ago..

It's a beautiful plant, but looks even more so in a natural environment.

Funny you should say that - I'm making my garden more naturalistic too - influenced by scenes like this.

Love this and it's making me look forward all the more to my coastal summer!!
Do you find it hard to sell your paintings, I wonder? Or do you just think (as above) I'll do another for myself…?!

Oh I do find it hard to part with my paintings sometimes! (Will write a post about that soon..)

Some plants are so resilient aren't they. That first picture is simply ... beautiful, no wonder you are drawn to paint it. And look at the folds and striations in the rocks - nature always does it best.

It is good to see the sea thift has survived those storms, your pictures are lovely as always. I always look forward to capturing it's appearance too. (as I was doing last weekend!).I hope you decide to paint a picture of them. Sarah x

Our landscapes have a lot of similarities (though you probably have more chalk than granite?)

So many different photographs from a - relatively - small piece of your beautiful landscape. In every photograph something else comes to play along with the sea thrift: man made like, what is it, a tower, or nature's hand like in rocks, waves, lines and curves, lichen. I so much enjoyed every one of them.

You're very observant! I'm so glad you like them Cath. I love this little patch of shoreline which is just down a little grass path from the house.
