Simply..town or country....

I loove that the exquisite facade of Mackintosh's Willow Tearooms has been so beautifully restored. It is hard to beleive it opened in 1903. One of the delights of the city.

I also love that I can walk out of my front door into this..

I am so lucky to have access to both.

Town or country? Do you have a prefernece?

I grew up in city sububia and thought city life was great. We brought up our family in small town suburbs and escaped to countryside as often as we could. Twenty something years ago we moved to a tiny hamlet in the depths of the countryside and at first enjoyed going back to the city for a fix of culture . Now I prefer the quiet and space and peace of country living.

I have been back and forth through the years, and still enjoy both, but would not want to live in a town or city now. Like you, I have enjoyed the variety stop

I like living in large towns (e.g. Dorchester) or small cities (e.g. Cambridge, Saskatoon) as it is easiest to find my kind of work there, but I like to have the option of spending time in the countryside to soothe the soul.

I had to look up Saskatoon, and now I’m curious about the kind of work you do. I think English cathedral cities are probably my favourite.

I live right on the edge of the suburbs of Glasgow which I find ideal. A bus at the bottom of the road takes me to the city centre but I can walk the other way and within 10 minutes am in the countryside. Not as spectacular as your view, Freda, but a green landscape of fields and woods which lift my spirits on every visit.

Fond memories of our breakfast in Willow's Tearoom and walking the shore of the loch and through Coronation Woods.
