However, for four days in North Yorkshire I enjoyed lovely weather, country walks and the company of good friends.
I hope you also had a happy start to the new year.
Christmas decorations come down, but I will keep out a few which I think of as winter decorations rather than specifc to Christmas. Listening to the lashing rain I know that lights and flowers are needed to get through more dark days of winter. However, for four days in North Yorkshire I enjoyed lovely weather, country walks and the company of good friends. I hope you also had a happy start to the new year.

You have the exact same little tealight house as me. Beautiful aren't they. I light mine in the window and will also leave this out until the beginning of Feb - Candlemas I believe, or 'Imbolc' if you prefer. (I've decided to celebrate the 'wheel of the year' in 2022, a celebration every six weeks sounds good to me!).

I would like to join you in that idea of a celebration every six weeks! I first heard of it in Wintering. Must do a little research. It sounds as if you’ve got off to a lovely start to 2022 Lynn.

It sounds like life used to be, doesn’t it Gail. More of the same would be wonderful.

What a lovely idea to leave candlelit ornaments out. Everywhere looks so drab when the Christmas decorations are tidied away . And tulips ... the promise of things to come. Glad you enjoyed your minibreak.

A very happy new year, Freda, and like you I started 2022 with a walk with good friends and felt there was nothing better. Lovely to see your lights to darken the dark days in January.

Happy New Year everyone! We've taken down the ornaments but still have some Christmas cake left so the season isn't over yet. I'm going to try and display a different quilt each month this year - I have enough....
