Simply..walking like a penguin....

..on sheet ice! Three days, eight buses, two cars, two ferries, two 20 minute walks which would normally take 6 or 7 minutes, rain wind sleet and sheet ice, a wonderful play and a party at Glasgow School of Art, good food and drink, and great company, and I am so glad to be home!

How are travel conditions where you are?

Difficult is the word that springs to mind. After last week's winter wonderland the combination of grey skies and freezing rain on top of ice is character building. My admiration for people who live with these conditions for months at a time is enormous.
But you did go to a lovely party !

Oh I loved it! I too wonder at people who live in severe climates. I have grown to like winter but I still look forward to it's end...Be safe!

So glad you went out anyway and no injuries!
We are lucky in that although we don't have more snow than you (in fact, often less here at this altitude!) Switzerland is geared to winter - it's obligatory to swap to winter tyres so only foreign cars seem to be a hindrance ;) I'm actually on a train right now with the sun peeking over the snowy foothills, though some cloud is looming and snow again forecast - should be a cozy weekend! I'll need it after I get back from the city - pretty with the lights and Christmas market plus a good bookstore but oh so many people all in a hurry... :o

A bit of city buzz is wonderful but it sounds as if lke me you are glad to get home again. We are lucky we can experience both!

Clement at present.
I'm glad you didn't slip or jolt yourself. Ice is treacherous for backs.

It is treacherous and tested my balance several times! But I had such a good time....

We have sleet and black ice here, freda..with snow on top..and sadly, our book club christmas lunch was cancelled; and we missed an art opening as well...just too treacherous to go out onto our WV slippery hills...you are a trooper for sure!

Well it was ok when I left home so....I am so sorry you missed some nice events and hope you have more to come and the right kind of weather to do them Julia.

A little snow (<1") anticipated this afternoon, but it may hit just before rush hour in DC which means it could be very ugly (...not that it isn't ugly no matter what the weather). The good news (for me) is that I am working from home today, so I won't have to deal with it.

Glad you had a good time despite weather conditions.

That sounds like a fun, but challenging three days Freda! Glad you stayed upright... :-) My lane was too snowy/icy to go out until yesterday - the brook runs alongside it so it's wise to be cautious unless a fan of the icy plunge!
