Simply..winter in spring....

..and a birthday postponed.

Picture

Snow on the tops..

Picture

Primroses at the bottom, with celandine, wild garlic and pignut.

And the birthday? I just did not feel like partying, so I took the liberty of postponing it till Midsummer when we will have a family party on the beach.

Mixed up seasons and celebrations!

2 birthdays...just like the Queen. I think celebrating at the beach sounds better than celebrating in snow.

That made me laugh Cathy! I hadn't thought of 'Just like the Queen'. I spent it quietly gardening with my dear daughters.

That made me laugh ,too Cathy! It was exactly what I was thinking as I clicked on the comments 'just like the Queen '! I also think that a summer celebration is a much better idea Freda xxx

Happy non-birthday - midsummer sounds a good time to celebrate. The weather has been pretty unusual for this time of year, hard frosts, sleet and very cold - I haven't put the long-johns away just yet.

Quiet time in the garden with women you love and who love you is a great way to spend a birthday.

Happily some sun yesterday although mixed with heavy rain. The moments of sun made my (birth)day.
A quiet gathering in the garden in spring (well technically it still is..) ànd a family celebration on the beach in summer sound like warm
and embracing ways to celebrate.
My celebration is in fact a series, three tiny celebrations over a week, a day in between each to have a rest. The first one was lovely.

I hope the other two are just as lovely Cath.

I hope this quote will not sound to you like i am minimizing you sorrow, freda...but in some small way, maybe it will resonate..i have it written on a stone in my little garden bed:
An hour in the garden puts life's problems in perspective. And maybe gaining perspective is all one can do on a birthday some years...
Gardening with loving daughters sounds like it would be perfect.

Gardening for me is very therapeutic, especially just now and yes, it was just the best way to spend the day.

Such a contrast between the top and bottom mountains! What a good idea to celebrate your birthday in a different season for a change. I'm glad you daughters could be with you working in the garden. My garden and the sea always make me feel better. Sarah x
