Simply..clothes again....

It may well be a bit  narcissistic to write about my clothes (It may well be a bit narcissistic to write a blog!) but clothes are important to me and fashion is my fun.

I think I have always loved clothes and can remember very clearly things I wore when I was little more than a toddler. I studied printed textiles at Glasgow School of Art, and I love people watching - just seeing what people wear and trying to understand what it is about those people who just get it right...

There are quite a lot of posts under Simply Stylish if you have time to browse, and in 2013, in an attempt to get my own style right for me and avoid buying things I then did not wear, I started my own style notebook.  See here.  This has been invaluable.
The biggest wardrobe change since then is  that as I can no longer drive, I use public transport and that definetiely requires different clothees. Buses, ferries and trains combimed with unpredictable weather can make it quite a challenge,

Well travelled Mary collects scarves as souvenirs - a treasure trove of memories!

Clothes are fun though can often be frustrating if you are not a standard size but there is great enjoyment in style watching especially when it is a style we would never consider for ourselves. Maybe you should think of it as one of your hobbies, Freda. What a good idea to keep a note of combinations of clothes that work well together but I suspect I am too lazy to keep it going.the right scarf does work wonders with an outfit and that is a truly impressive collection of scarves!

I was in the shop of the National Gallery of Scotland today. So many beautiful scarves!

Those shelves look a great deal messier than usual because I've been dragging out scarves to take on an upcoming trip. Clearly, I will have to reorganize them upon my return. They used to be colour coordinated and/or separated by fabric type (e.g. silks/wools/cottons/etc.), but somehow I have failed to maintain order. :) I do wear a scarf almost every day. However, I plan to pass some of them on to others in the near future.

Have been enjoying rereading your archive posts about clothes. I've never been that organised but I am fascinated by your ability to choose , combine and contrast your wardrobe . I think Mary 's idea of buying a scarf as a travel souvenir is a great idea , bringing back lovely holiday memories each time you wear them.

Do write more about your clothes, and personal style and fashion, Freda.
I love clothes - how their shapes, structures, textures and colours are combined!
I own few, and make some, very slowly, and recently, from reclaimed fabric from that I've unpicked charity shop items e.g. tweed, plaid.
I'll look forward to reading back over your blog, this weekend.

The charity shops put a wonderful source of interesting fabrics. Good for you for recycling them!
